Desmostachya adalah genus rumput-rumputan dalam famili Poaceae. Genus ini berasal dari Afrika dan Asia.[3]
Taksonomi
Genus Desmostachya awalnya dipublikasikan sebagai Eragrostis sect. Desmostachya dalam The Flora of British India 7: 324. 1897. Entah bagaimana, dua ahli botani terkemuka, Joseph Dalton Hooker (1817–1911) dan Otto Stapf (1857–1933), awalnya masing-masing dianggap sebagai otoritas penamaan untuk takson tersebut (spesimen tipe untuk seksi Eragrostis ini adalah Eragrostis cynosuroides (Retz.) P.Beauv., yang didasarkan pada takson spesies sebelumnya, Poa cynosuroides Retz.). Secara umum diterima bahwa Eragrostis sect. Desmostachya Hook.f. adalah nama yang benar untuk takson tersebut. Namun, E. sect. Desmostachya Stapf diterima sebagai basionim untuk nama genus Desmostachya. Setahun setelah dipublikasikan sebagai seksi dari Eragrostis, Desmostachya dipublikasikan sebagai genus yang berdiri sendiri dalam Flora Capensis 7: 316. 1898.[1] Dua spesies yang diakui adalah:
