George Snell

George Davis Snell (Bradford, 19 Desember 1903 - Bar Harbor, 6 Juni 1996) ialah seorang genetikawan dan imunolog Amerika Serikat. Ia dianugerahi Penghargaan Nobel dalam Fisiologi atau Kedokteran bersama dengan Baruj Bennaceraf dan Jean-Baptiste-Gabriel-Joachim Dausset pada tahun 1980 untuk karyanya pada kompleks histokompatibilitas mayor dan perannya dalam imunitas seluler.

Biografi

George Snell mendaftar untuk belajar matematika di Dartmouth College. Minatnya pada genetika membuatnya mengerjakan karya sarjana di Universitas Harvard pada tahun 1930 bersama dengan William E. Castle. Ia mengerjakan karya pascadoktoral di Universitas Texas atas efek sinar X pada tikus. Ia bergabung dengan Jackson Laboratory, Bar Harbor pada tahun 1935 dan tinggal di sana sepanjang kariernnya.
