Hymenophyton adalah genus dari ordo Pallaviciniales (lumut hati) yang terdiri dari satu hingga tiga spesies. Genus ini sebelumnya dideskripsikan sebagai monotipe, karena setiap anggotanya memiliki kemiripan morfologi yang dekat, namun bukti fitokimia dan molekuler kini mendukung klasifikasi infragenus yang memisahkan dua spesies. Nama Hymenophyton leptopodum, yang dulunya dianggap sebagai sinonim dari Hymenophyton flabellatum, telah dihidupkan kembali.[2] Populasi yang ditemukan di Chili dianggap sebagai klad terpisah, dan pengukuhan kembali Hymenophyton pedicellatum telah diusulkan.[3]
