Sir James Alexander Mirrlees FRSE FBA (5 Juli 1936 – 29 Agustus 2018)[2][3][4] adalah seorang ekonom Skotlandia dan pemenang Nobel Ekonomi tahun 1996.
Pada tahun 1996, bersama dengan William Vickrey, James Mirrlees dianugerahi Nobel Ekonomi. Tiga hari setelah pengumuman Nobel itu, Vickrey meninggal dunia. Penelitian Mirrlees dan Vickrey memberikan sumbangan pada teori ekonomi insentif di bawah informasi asimetris. Pada tahun 1997, Mirrlees dianugerahi gelar kebangsawanan dari Ratu Britania Raya.
