Lagu protes
Lagu protes adalah sebuah lagu yang biasanya dikaitkan dengan sebuah gerakan untuk menciptakan sebuah perubahan sosial, dan menjadi sebuah bagian dari kategori lagu topikal (lagu yang terkait dengan peristiwa terkini). Lagu protes dapat bergenre rakyat, klasik, atau komersial.
Contoh lagu topikal pada abad ke-18 yang dimaksudkan sebagai lagu protes dari para feminis adalah "Rights of Woman" (1795), yang dinyanyikan dengan nada "God Save the King", dan ditulis secara anonim oleh "A Lady" dan diterbitkan dalam Philadelphia Minerva, 17 Oktober 1795. Meskipun begitu, tidak ada bukti bahwa lagu tersebut pernah dinyanyikan untuk gerakan sosial.[1]
