Mallotus barbatus Müll.Arg merupakan tumbuhan yang termasuk dalam famili Euphobiaceae. Tumbuhan ini di Indonesia dikenal dengan nama lokal tutup atau anggrung mera[2]. Tumbuhan ini hidup di lahan terbuka di daerah tropis. Tumbuhan ini berdaun tunggal yang tersusun berseling, berbentuk bulat hingga lonjong dengan ujung runcing dan permukaan daun dilapisi dengan rambut halus. Batangnya bercabang dan bunganya berukuran kecil. Selain itu, buah dari tumbuhan ini berbentuk kapusl yang akan pecah saat buah sudah masak untuk melepaskan bijinya. Tumbuhan ini berperan dalam regenerasi vegetasi alami dan sering dijumpai sebagai penyusun vegetasi hutan tropis.
