Malvaviscus adalah genus tumbuhan berbunga dalam famili Malvaceae.[5] Di antaranya dibedakan dengan memiliki kelopak bunga dan buah berdaging merah. Nama genusnya berasal dari kata Latin malva yang berarti "mallow" dan viscus yang berarti "lengket", mengacu pada getah mucilaginous yang dihasilkan oleh anggota genus.[6] Buahnya dapat digunakan untuk membuat jeli atau sirop. Baik buah maupun bunganya digunakan untuk membuat teh herbal.[7]
