Meconopsis adalah sebuah genus tumbuhan berbunga dalam keluarga Papaveraceae. Tumbuhan tersebut mula-mula dideskripsikan oleh botanis Prancis Viguier pada 1814[1] yang menamai tumbuhan tersebut dengan arti "mirip poppy" (dari Bahasa Yunani Kuno mekon poppy, opsis mirip). Sebuah spesies tunggal, Meconopsis cambrica (poppy Wales), berasal dari Inggris, Wales, Irlandia dan Barat Eropa, meskipun pembelajaran terkini menyatakan bahwa tumbuhan tersebut tidak masuk genus tersebut.[2] 40 spesies lainnya atau lebih (tergantung pada klasifikasi) ditemukan di Himalaya
