Goeppertia atau meranti irut (beberapa diantarnya juga disebut Meranti sepat) adalah genus tumbuhan berbunga dalam keluarga Marantaceae, berasal dari Daerah Tropis Dunia Baru. Ini berisi 243 spesies yang diterima, banyak di antaranya hingga saat ini [1] dimasukkan ke dalam Calathea. Ini pertama kali dijelaskan oleh Nees von Esenbeck pada tahun 1831, yang secara keliru mendirikan genus lain Goeppertia pada tahun 1836, yang kini disinonimkan dengan Endlicheria. Pada tahun 1862 Agustus Grisebach mendeskripsikan genus lain Goeppertia ; ini sekarang telah disinonimkan dengan Bisgoeppertia.

Nama genus Goeppertia adalah sebagai penghormatan kepada Heinrich Göppert (1800–1884), seorang ahli botani dan paleontologi Jerman.[2]

Goeppertia dapat dengan mudah dibedakan dari Calathea dengan bunga berbentuk roset di Goeppertia, di mana Calathea memiliki lebih banyak struktur tangga untuk mekarnya.
