Generasi kedua Mercedes-Benz Kelas-CL adalah coupé sasis C215 tahun 1998–2006. Ini didasarkan pada Mercedes-Benz Kelas-S (W220) 1998–2005, meskipun menggunakan wheelbase 8-inci (203 mm) yang lebih pendek. Penjualan di Jerman dimulai pada Agustus 1999 untuk CL 500 V8.
Desain eksterior C215 dan suspensi aktif telah dipratinjau oleh konsep Mercedes-Benz F200 pada tahun 1996.
Kelas-CL ditawarkan dalam tujuh model: CL 500 bertenaga V8, CL 55 AMG bertenaga V8, CL 55 AMG bertenaga V8, CL 600 bertenaga V12, CL 600 bertenaga V12 edisi terbatas. 63 AMG, dan bi-turbo V12 yang menggerakkan CL 600 bi-turbo dan CL 65 AMG. Semua model kursi empat. Desain eksterior yang dihasilkan 0,28 [2] untuk model reguler dan 0,29 untuk AMG.
