Metabolisme alkohol

Metabolisme alkohol merupakan beberapa mekanisme dari tubuh untuk memproses alkohol. Enzim utama yang terlibat adalah aldehid dehidrogenase (ALDH), alkohol dehidrogenase (ADH), sitokrom P450 (CYP2E1) dan katalase.[1] Jenis-jenis enzim ini tersebar di beragam lokasi, yaitu alkohol dehidrogenase (ADH) terletak di sitosol, sistem oksidasi etanol mikrosom (MEOS) terletak di retikulum endoplasma dan katalase terletak di peroksisom.[2] Proses ini akan mengoksidasi etanol dengan enzim ADH menjadi asetaldehida dan mengubah asetaldehida menjadi asetat dengan ALDH. [3]
