Michael Hardt (lahir 1960) adalah teoriwan sastra dan filsuf politik Amerika Serikat. Herdt dikenal sebagai penulis buku Empire, which was co-written with Antonio Negri.[3] Buku ini disebut-sebut sebagai "Manifesto Komunis Abad ke-21".[4]
Hardt dan Negri berpendapat bahwa beberapa kekuatan yang mereka anggap mendominasi kehidupan sehari-hari, seperti penindasan kelas, globalisasi, dan komodifikasi jasa (atau produksi berefek), memiliki potensi untuk memicu perubahan sosial dalam dimensi yang tak terbayangkan. Sekuelnya, Multitude: War and Democracy in the Age of Empire, diterbitkan bulan Agustus 2004.
