Pendeteksi cacat

Pendeteksi cacat adalah perangkat yang digunakan pada kereta api untuk mendeteksi poros dan pertanda masalah dari kereta yang lewat. Pendeteksi biasanya diintegrasikan ke dalam jalur, dan sering kali berupa sensor untuk mendeteksi beberapa jenis masalah yang dapat terjadi. Pendeteksi cacat adalah salah satu penemuan yang memungkinkan kereta api di Amerika untuk tidak lagi memasang gerbong kabus di belakang kereta, serta menempatkan petugas di stasiun di sepanjang rute untuk mendeteksi kondisi yang tidak aman. Sejak saat itu, penggunaan pendeteksi cacat pun menyebar ke luar negeri.
