Podocarpus salignus, atau dikenal sebagai willow-leaf podocarp,[2] adalah spesies konifer dari keluarga podokarpus Podocarpaceae. Tanaman ini hanya ditemukan di Chili, dari 35–42° lintang selatan, di mana ia terancam oleh kehilangan habitat. Di Chili, tanaman ini dikenal sebagai Mañío de hojas largas (berdaun panjang).
Deskripsi
Podocarpus salignus adalah spesies tumbuhan hijau abadi konifer yang mencapai ketinggian hingga 20 m (66 ft) dan diameter 1 m (3 ft). Batangnya lurus dan silindris, dengan kulit kayu berwarna abu-abu kemerahan. Cabang-cabangnya yang melengkung ditumbuhi daun yang panjang, sempit, menyerupai pohon dedalu (willow), serta memiliki buah berdaging berbentuk oval berwarna merah jika tanaman jantan dan betina tumbuh bersamaan.
Budidaya dan kegunaan
Pohon ini ditanam di kebun dan taman di Chili, serta telah diperkenalkan ke Kepulauan Britania. Tanaman ini membutuhkan curah hujan yang tinggi atau kelembapan tinggi, tetapi mampu bertahan pada suhu hingga −25 °C (−13 °F).[3] Pohon ini telah mendapatkan Award of Garden Merit dari Royal Horticultural Society.[2][4]
Kayunya memiliki kualitas yang baik, berwarna kekuningan, serat lurus, dan sangat tahan terhadap kelembapan. Kayu ini digunakan dalam pembuatan furnitur dan konstruksi.
