Snowdenia adalah genus tanaman dalam suku rumput-rumputan, yang berasal dari Arab dan Afrika Timur.[2][3][4][5]
Genus ini dideskripsikan oleh Charles Edward Hubbard dalam Bull. Misc. Inform. Kew (1929) pada halaman 30 tahun 1929.[1]
Nama genus Snowdenia diambil untuk menghormati Joseph Devenport Snowden (1886–1973), seorang tukang kebun, botanis, dan ahli mikologi asal Inggris yang bekerja di Kew Gardens.[6]
