Francis Lawrence (lahir 26 Maret 1971)[1] adalah seorang pembuat film dan produser asal Amerika Serikat yang lahir di Austria. Setelah memantapkan dirinya sebagai sutradara video musik dan iklan, Lawrence membuat debut sutradara film panjang dengan film thriller supernatural Constantine (2005) lalu menyutradarai film horor pasca-apokaliptik I Am Legend (2007), film drama romantis Water for Elephants (2011), empat film dalam serial film Hunger Games dan film thriller mata-mata Red Sparrow (2018).

Kehidupan awal

Lawrence lahir dari orang tua Amerika Serikat di Wina, Austria. Ayahnya adalah seorang fisikawan teoretis yang mengajar di Universitas California State, Northridge, dan ibunya adalah wakil presiden teknologi di sebuah agen hubungan masyarakat yang berbasis di kota kelahirannya.[2][3]

Dia pindah ke Los Angeles pada usia empat tahun.[2] Lawrence bekerja sebagai asisten kamera kedua pada film Pump Up the Volume yang disutradarai oleh Allan Moyle sebelum mendapatkan gelar sarjana dalam produksi film di Universitas Loyola Marymount Film School.
