Tetrapogon adalah genus rumput dalam keluarga Poaceae.[2][3][4]
Nama Tetrapogon berasal dari akar kata Yunani tetra- dan pogon, yang masing-masing berarti "empat" dan "janggut", merujuk pada jumbai rambut pada tanaman tersebut.[4] Spesies dalam genus ini tersebar di seluruh Afrika dan melalui Timur Tengah hingga ke timur sampai India.[4][5]
