The Story of Civilization, karya suami istri Will dan Ariel Durant, adalah sebuah kumpulan buku sebelas volume berisi sejarah Barat untuk pembaca umum. Volume ini laris terjual selama beberapa tahun dan beberapa di antaranya sering ditawarkan oleh klub pembaca buku.
Seri ini ditulis selama lebih dari empat dasawarsa. Seri ini memiliki empat juga kata yang tersebar di 10.000 halaman, tetapi belum lengkap. Di volume pertama (Our Oriental Heritage, yang membahas sejarah Timur pada tahun 1933), Will Durant menyatakan bahwa ia ingin menyertakan sejarah Barat pada awal abad ke-20. Seri ini berakhir dengan The Age of Napoleon karena suami istri ini meninggal pada 1980-an, Ariel pada usia 80-an tahun dan Will pada usia 90-an tahun, sebelum mereka dapat menyelesaikan volume tambahannya.
