Tholin

Pembentukan tholin di atmosfer Titan.

Tholin (dari kata dalam bahasa Yunani Kuno θολός (tholós), yang berarti "tidak jelas") adalah molekul heteropolimer yang terbentuk dari iradiasi ultraungu matahari terhadap senyawa organik sederhana seperti metana dan etana. Tholin tidak terbentuk secara alami di Bumi modern, tetapi berlimpah di permukaan objek-objek ber-es di Tata Surya. Tholin juga ditemukan di sistem bintang berusia delapan juta tahun yang disebut HR 4796A dengan menggunakan Near-Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS) di Teleskop Angkasa Hubble.[1]

Tholin umumnya berwarna coklat kemerahan.
