Urochloa fusca, yang dikenal sebagai browntop signalgrass,[1] adalah spesies rumput liar dengan wilayah persebaran asli mulai dari Paraguay di Amerika Selatan hingga Amerika Serikat bagian selatan (Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, Texas, dan Oklahoma),[2][3] dan kini ditemukan sebagai gulma di Australia.[2][4] Spesies ini bersifat diploid, dengan jumlah kromosom dasar 9,[5] dan menggunakan subtipe enzimatik PCK dari fotosintesis C4. Berdasarkan filogeni molekuler dari genus Urochloa, kerabat terdekat dari U. fusca adalah Urochloa arizonica dan Urochloa mollis[6] Genom U. fusca saat ini sedang diurutkan oleh Joint Genome Institute.[7][8]
Ekologi
Tumbuh subur di area lembap dan area yang terganggu pada dataran rendah.[4]
