Vampir palsu (Megadermatidae)[2] adalah sebuah famili kelelawar yang dapat ditemukan dari Afrika tengah, lalu ke timur melalui Asia selatan, lalu hingga Australia. Mereka adalah kelelawar yang berukuran relatif besar, berkisar antara 6.5 cm sampai 14 cm dari kepala sampai tubuh. Mereka memiliki mata yang besar, telinga yang sangat besar, serta hidung daun yang menonjol. mereka memiliki membran lebar di antara kaki belakang mereka, atau uropatagium, tetapi tidak ada ekor. Banyak spesies berwarna cokelat pucat, tetapi beberapa berwarna putih, kelabu kebiruan atau bahkan hijau zaitun, membantu mereka untuk berkamuflase pada lingkungan bertengger kesukaan tiap spesies. Mereka umumnya insektivor, tetapi juga memakan berbagai jenis vertebrata kecil.
