Chloris virgata adalah spesies rumput yang dikenal dengan nama umum feather fingergrass[4] feathery Rhodes-grass[5] dan feather windmill grass.
Distribusi
Tanaman ini asli dari banyak wilayah beriklim hangat, subtropis, dan tropis di dunia, termasuk bagian dari Eurasia, Afrika, dan Amerika, serta hadir di banyak wilayah lain sebagai spesies ternaturalisasi, termasuk Hawaii, Australia, dan Kepulauan Canaria.[6]
Chloris virgata adalah rumput tahan banting yang dapat tumbuh di berbagai jenis habitat, termasuk area yang terganggu seperti pinggir jalan dan jalur kereta api, serta lahan pertanian. Di beberapa daerah, rumput ini dikenal sebagai gulma, misalnya di ladang alfalfa di barat daya Amerika Serikat.[7]
Deskripsi
Ini adalah rumput semusim yang tumbuh hingga ketinggian maksimum sekitar setengah meter. Tanaman ini terkadang membentuk rumpun dan mungkin menyebar atau tidak menyebar melalui stolon. Perbungaannya berupa deretan 4 hingga 20 cabang mirip jari dengan panjang hingga 10 sentimeter. Setiap cabang berisi sekitar 10 bulir per sentimeter. Setiap bulir memiliki satu floret fertil dan satu atau dua floret steril.
