Taxus globosa, atau yew Meksiko, adalah semak hijau abadi dan merupakan salah satu dari delapan spesies yew. Yew Meksiko adalah spesies langka, yang hanya diketahui ditemukan di sejumlah kecil lokasi di Meksiko bagian timur, Guatemala, El Salvador, dan Honduras,[2] dan terdaftar sebagai spesies terancam punah. Yew Meksiko adalah semak yang tumbuh hingga ketinggian rata-rata 4,6 m. Tanaman ini memiliki jarum berwarna hijau muda yang besar dan tajam, tumbuh berderet di kedua sisi cabangnya.

Terdapat beberapa proyek di seluruh dunia untuk memproduksi Paklitaksel (agen antitumor), tetapi yew Meksiko belum diteliti secara mendalam karena produksinya yang rendah akan Taxol (Bringi et al., 1995)[3] melalui kultur sel tanaman in vitro. Sedikit peneliti yang memfokuskan pekerjaan mereka pada spesies ini, pemimpin tim penelitian tentang Taxus globosa S. mungkin adalah Barradas[4] di Institut Teknologi Veracruz (Instituto Tecnológico de Veracruz).
