Liliensternus dengan jambul spekulatifnya

Liliensternus adalah sebuah genus dinosaurus neotheropoda basal punah yang hidup sekitar 210 juta tahun lalu pada masa-masa akhir periode Trias di wilayah yang sekarang adalah Jerman. Liliensternus merupakan karnivor bipedal terestrial yang dapat tumbuh hingga panjang 5,15 m (16,9 ft); namun, perkiraan ukuran ini didasari oleh spesimen-spesimen yang kini diyakini mewakili individu muda, dan fosil-fosil fragmenter mengindikasikan panjang dewasa 7 hingga 9 meter.[1] Bobotnya barangkali sekitar 127 kilogram (280 pon).[2] Genus ini menjadi yang paling banyak terwakilkan di antara theropoda Eropa lainnya, sekaligus yang terbesar di antaranya.[3]

Meski tengkoraknya tidak diketahui dengan baik, banyak rekonstruksi dari genus ini memberinya sebuah jambul seperti pada Dilophosaurus. Iliumnya pendek, seperti pads Dilophosaurus.
