Jubbulpuria ("dari Jubbulpore") adalah nama yang diberikan untuk genus dinosaurus theropoda yang meragukan dari Formasi Lameta Kapur Akhir di India.
Penemuan dan penamaan
Genus ini dinamai pada tahun 1932 oleh Friedrich von Huene.[1] Nama generiknya merujuk pada Jabalpur di India, di mana fosil-fosilnya ditemukan di sekitarnya. Spesies tipe, Jubbulpuria tenuis, dideskripsikan oleh Huene dan Charles Alfred Matley pada tahun 1933.[2] Nama spesifiknya berarti "ramping" dalam bahasa Latin.
Spesimen fosilnya ditemukan oleh Matley pada tahun 1917-19 atau 1932 di dalam Formasi Lameta, yang berasal dari kala Maastrichtian. Spesimen ini terdiri dari dua sintipe, GSI K27/614 dan GSI K20/612, masing-masing merupakan bagian distal vertebra ekor.[1] Sebuah vertebra ekor distal ketiga, GSI K27/599, telah dirujuk ke spesies ini.
Deskripsi
Jubbulpuria adalah predator kecil, yang diperkirakan memiliki tinggi 05 meter (16 ft 5 in), panjang 12 meter (39 ft 4 in), dan berat beberapa kilogram.
Klasifikasi
Jubbulpuria awalnya diklasifikasikan oleh Huene sebagai dinosaurus coelurid yang mirip dengan tetapi lebih kecil dari Coeluroides,[1] theropoda lain dari Formasi Lameta yang kurang dikenal. Peneliti baru-baru ini menyimpulkan bahwa posisinya sulit untuk ditentukan dengan pasti selain sebagai Theropoda incertae sedis umum, dan bahwa ia harus dianggap sebagai nomen dubium. Ia mungkin merupakan seekor ceratosaur. Sebuah studi tahun 2024 mengidentifikasi Jubbulpuria sebagai sinonim junior dari Laevisuchus.[3]
